Instant Pot Kielbasa and Cabbage is the perfect weeknight dish to get dinner on the table fast! With just 10 minutes of prep and 5 minutes of pressure, you will have this low carb Kielbasa and cabbage dish ready to enjoy in no time.

I am always looking for quick and easy dishes that my family loves. It seems like the older the kids get the more busy our lives are. I am sure you feel the same! The other night my husband was craving Kielbasa so I decided to use the Instant Pot to make it quickly because I was running short on time. 

Instant Pot Kielbasa and Cabbage

This Instant Pot Kielbasa and Cabbage dish was a hit! Not only was it quick to make, but it was low carb, flavorful, and cleaning up was a breeze! It is a new family favorite in our home and will soon be a favorite in your home too. 

If you have any leftover Instant Pot Kielbasa and cabbage, it does store fairly well. Place it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. You may find that the cabbage gets a bit soggier over time but the flavor is still good.

Instant Pot Keilbasa and Cabbage

Ingredients

1 ½ pound red potatoes, scrubbed and halved

1 onion, chopped

1 medium head cabbage, cored and cut into 2 inch pieces

1 ½ cups chicken broth

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

½ teaspoon dried thyme

Salt and black pepper, to taste

¼ cup (1 stick) butter, cut into pats

1 (14 ounce) package of kielbasa, sliced

How to Make Instant Pot Kielbasa and Cabbage

  • Dump the red potatoes, onion, cabbage, and kielbasa into the pot of the electric pressure cooker. Top with butter, chicken broth, vinegar, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  • Place the lid on the electric pressure cooker and set the valve to sealing. Set the pressure cooker to “manual” or “pressure cook” for 5 minutes. Allow a 10-minute natural release of pressure when the cook cycle is complete.
  • Gently toss the ingredients together and serve.

Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • For a little kick, you can use a spicy sausage.
  • You can add some carrot chunks or baby carrots to a for a bit of color and flavor.
  • You will want to place your kielbasa on top of the cabbage in the Instant Pot. This allows all the juices to drip down while cooking and flavor the cabbage to perfection. 
  • Don’t forget to wash your cabbage prior to cutting it and adding it to the Instant Pot. 
  • Be sure to core your cabbage when you are making this dish. 
  • If you want your cabbage to be a little soggy, add another minute to the pressure time. If you want it to be less soggy, only cook it for 4 minutes. 
  • This dish is delicious by itself or you can serve it with rice or noodles.
