Crock Pot Bourbon Chicken
Crock Pot Bourbon Chicken is a satisfying weeknight dinner that can be thrown into your crock pot for a hands-off approach. You have tender and juicy bourbon chicken that you can serve with a bed of rice, quinoa, or even cauliflower rice.
If you are a fan of chicken, I have a few more for you to try out. Instant Pot chicken and yellow rice, grilled chicken, or try my Olive Garden chicken and pasta.
Crock Pot Bourbon Chicken
If you are looking for something a bit different than a classic chicken dish, this recipe is awesome. My four growing boys and husband gobbled it right up. I made broccoli on the side with rice.
What Is Best Cut Of Chicken To Use
I used boneless chicken breasts. Diced them into chunks and then tossed in the slow cooker. You could also use other cuts of boneless meat. Just remove any skin, and trim meat if needed.
If you want to make bone-in chicken, you would just need to extend the cook time to ensure the meat is fully cooked all the way through. I recommend using a meat thermometer. Just make sure to not touch the bone or it will give off a false reading.
How To Make
Step 1: Start by dicing up your chicken and place in a greased slow cooker.
Step 2: Now you will make your sauce. Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl, and mix well. Then pour the mixture over the top of your chicken.
Step 3: Cover and cook on high 2-3 hours or low 4-6 hours. Or until the chicken reaches 165 degrees internal temperature. Depending on how your slow cooker heats, will vary in cooking time.
What If I Don’t Want To Use Bourbon
Not a fan of bourbon? You can replace bourbon with chicken stock or broth in the recipe. It will still add flavor to your sauce, but alter the flavor a bit.
I have made it both ways, and I enjoy it with or without. So feel free to leave it out if you prefer to not have alcohol used in your recipe.
Other Ways To Serve Up Crockpot Bourbon Chicken
- Brown Rice, White, Jasmine, Basmati, etc
- Zucchini Noodles
- Quinoa
- Cauliflower Rice or Mash
- Mashed Potatoes
- Etc
Essentially you can serve the chicken plain or pair with one of these items above. We love rice because the rice soaks up all the incredible flavor of the sauce, so it is bursting with sweet and savory flavor in every bite.
Storing Leftovers
If you are lucky enough to have leftovers just store them in the refrigerator. Great for packing in lunches for the week, or reheat for dinner. The leftover chicken reheats really nicely. I tend to just reheat in the microwave for a quick reheat.
If you do oven or stove top do low or cover in aluminum foil so it doesn’t burn the sauce.
