Tips & Tricks

  • Prep Ahead: Save time on busy weeknights by prepping your ingredients ahead of time. Chop your onions, garlic, cabbage, and carrots in advance, so they’re ready to go when you start cooking.
  • Use High Heat: For the best results, cook your ground pork (or other protein) over medium-high heat. This will help to brown the meat quickly and develop delicious caramelized flavors.
  • Don’t Overcook the Veggies: Keep an eye on your cabbage and carrots while they’re cooking. You want them to be tender-crisp, not mushy. Overcooking can result in soggy vegetables, so be sure to cook them just until they’re softened but still retain some texture.
  • Adjust Seasonings to Taste: Feel free to adjust the seasonings in the sauce to suit your taste preferences. Add more soy sauce for a saltier flavor, more chili garlic sauce for extra heat, or a splash of honey for sweetness.
  • Add Texture with Toppings: Garnish your Egg Roll in a Bowl with sliced green onions, toasted sesame seeds, or chopped peanuts for added texture and flavor. These toppings not only enhance the dish visually but also add a delicious crunch.
  • Make it Ahead: This dish reheats well, so consider making a double batch and saving the leftovers for quick and easy lunches or dinners throughout the week. Simply store the leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and reheat in the microwave or on the stove when ready to enjoy.
  • Serve with Optional Extras: Get creative with your toppings and serve your Egg Roll in a Bowl with optional extras like a drizzle of sriracha for extra spice, a squeeze of lime juice for brightness, or a sprinkle of cilantro for freshness.
