Tips Tricks and FAQs
- This recipe will work with different flavors of fruit or berries. If you find that your batter is too wet because of the fruit, you can add more Bisquick until it comes together.
- Be sure to not overmix the dough. Lumps are fine when it comes to making scones. If you overmix, you will end up with chewy scones.
- Be sure you use cold ingredients. This helps create nice flaky scones. If you have extra time, place the dough in the fridge for at least 20 minutes prior to baking.
Storage
You will want to store your scones in an airtight container in the fridge. These will keep for up to 4 days. If you want them to last longer, wrap them individually in plastic wrap.
Freezer
We do not recommend freezing the scone batter. Uncooked fruit will become watery if you freeze them and then defrost it.
If you prefer to make these ahead of time and enjoy them later, you will want to cook your scones and let them completely cool. Once cooled, you can wrap them individually in plastic and then in foil. These will keep for up to 3 months.
When you are ready to enjoy, thaw at room temperature and then warm up.
Reheating
To reheat your leftover scones, you can warm them up in the microwave, the toaster, or the oven.
Are scones enjoyed warm or cold?
Scones are best enjoyed warm, but you can also eat them cold if you prefer.
