Cheesy Broccoli Rice
You could even go a step further and add shredded cheese on top once done and toss on an air fryer lid to crisp up cheese or toss in the oven.
Even my picky eaters gobbled this up and asked for a second helping.
What Is The Best Rice To Use
Reach for a long-grain white rice for this rice dish. I used white rice. It works great with the liquid to rice ratio.
If you opt to reach for different rice like brown rice you will need to adjust the recipe properly so you get the rice fully cooked.
How to Make Instant Pot Cheesy Broccoli Rice
- Press Saute. Add in butter and onions. Saute onions until they are translucent.
- Add in rice and 1 cup of chicken broth.
- Close the lid. Pressure cook on low pressure for 7 minutes. Then do a quick release.
- Open the lid. Add in broccoli florets and 1/2 Cup chicken broth.
- Close the lid. Pressure cook on low pressure for 5 minutes Then do a quick release.
- Add in heavy cream* and shredded cheese, while keeping your instant pot on warming
- Gently stir until the cheese is completely melted.
- Enjoy!
What If I Don’t Have Heavy Cream
No worries you can use milk and flour mixed to create your own mix to stir in, the exact ratio is in the recipe card!
I always forget to buy heavy cream so making mine this way works in a pinch when you need it.
Can I Add Chicken To Rice
If you have some pre-cooked chicken you want to add in go ahead. Diced or shredded chicken would work for this.
Or you can dice up raw chicken and sauté first and then go to cook rice and follow the recipe that way.
This would make it a complete meal. Check out my Duo Crisp Chicken Broccoli Cheddar Rice!

This is great warmed up in the microwave, toss it in the oven for a quick reheat and more. Or if you prefer eat it cold.
