With just 4 ingredients, cake mix, apple pie filling, butter, and toffee candy pieces we will be enjoying this sweet and savory piece of fall all season long.
What is dump cake?
Dump cake is exactly what it says. You basically take all the ingredients and dump them in a pan and bake it. It is the most simple dessert that you can make that everyone always loves!
Seriously this dessert takes less than five minutes to prep and doesn’t even require you to use a mixing bowl! If you love this one, make sure you try my cherry cheesecake dump cake next, you will love it.

- Bake until glorious & serve with ice cream.
Tips Tricks and FAQs
- Dump cake works with other flavors of pie filling too! Try using cherry, blueberry, or raspberry on your next dump cake.
- Yellow cake mix is best for apple toffee dump cake, but you can use all different kinds! Try using a white or spice cake mix on your next dump cake.
- Serve this apple dump cake with ice cream or whipped cream.
- You can substitute the toffee bits if you would like for nuts. Pecans work great.
- Add cinnamon to the cake mix for even more flavor.
Make ahead
The beauty of desserts is when you can make them ahead of time! You can easily make this apple dump cake in the morning and serve it that night. Just be sure to keep it wrapped until you are ready to serve.
I recommend heating up your piece, so it is nice and warm!
Storage
Fridge
You will want to store this dessert in an airtight container in the fridge. It will last for up to a week.
Freezer
This cake does freeze so well! I love to cut it and store it in individual servings. To do this, cut the cake once it is cooled. On a cookie tray, place a piece of parchment paper, then take your individual pieces and put them on the tray so they aren’t touching. Place it in the freezer and let it freeze all the way through. Once frozen, place them all in an airtight storage container. There will last about 3 months.
When you are ready for a tasty treat, pull it out of the freezer and warm it up in the microwave.

Any way…i did not realize that it calls for a cake (BATTER)…not just the dry powder of the cake mix. I sprinkled the dry cake mix. Was ok…but now i know.
