Watermelon Agua Fresca
Summertime is the best time of the year for so many reasons. One of my favorite reasons is delicious drinks like this watermelon agua Fresca and our strawberry agua Fresca. They are easy to make and the perfect poolside treat or drink to enjoy on the front porch as the kids play.
Make a big pitcher to enjoy all week long.
Ingredients:
- 4 Cups water
- 2 Cups Watermelon, chopped
- ⅓ Cup Sugar
- Small Watermelon Wedges (optional garnish)
- Mint Sprigs (optional garnish)
How to Make Watermelon Agua Fresca
- Add all the ingredients except the garnishes to a powerful blender and let blend for 1 minute.
- Using a big spoon, lightly skim the top of the liquid in the blender to remove any unsightly foam.
- Pour into a glass and garnish with a small wedge of watermelon and a mint sprig, if desired, and enjoy!
Tips Tricks and FAQs
- If using a sugar substitute in this recipe, don’t do an even exchange for the sugar. You probably will only need half a cup of sugar substitute.
- For more watermelon flavor and a thicker drink, add some extra watermelon cubes before blending.
- You may see some foam in your watermelon agua Fresca, you can absolutely keep it how it is but some people like to remove it so that it has a nicer presentation.
- Be sure to start with chilled ingredients. This allows for a nice refreshing drink once it is blended for you and your guests.
- You can make this drink with other types of fruits. Some of our other favorites are mango and pineapple.
- It is best if you use a ripe watermelon that allows for immense amounts of flavor. If you find that your watermelon is not as sweet as you would like, add more sugar to the blender 1 Tablespoon at a time.
- For a little bit of a tart flavor add a squeeze of lime to the blender as well.
- This is best enjoyed right away, but can be stored in the fridge until later.
Storage
You will want to store this in the fridge for up to 3 days. Over time the flavor may change a bit so it is best enjoyed right away.
