How to Make Banana Pudding In a Jar

  • Whisk the milk and vanilla pudding mix for 2 minutes or until completely mixed and beginning to thicken. Set aside.
  • In the bottom of an 8 ounce jar, place one vanilla wafer cookie.

  • Over the cookie, add a layer of sliced bananas.

  • Top the bananas with about 3 tablespoons of the pudding.

  • Repeat the layers and top with a dollop of whipped topping.
top with whipped cream and a vanilla wafer

Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • If you choose you can easily break up the cookies within the layers to ensure you get Vanilla wafers in every bite.
  • You can substitute your vanilla wafers for Pepperidge Farm Chessmen cookies if you choose or even graham crackers. 
  • Add a dollop of whipping cream to the top or pipe on the topping to make it even fancier. Rather than whole cookies, you can also add some sliced bananas with some cookie crumbles on top. 
  • You can enjoy these right away, but I prefer to let them sit for at least 3 hours in the fridge. This allows the cookies to soften making them the consistency of a delicious cake.

Storage

Store these in the fridge for up to 4 days when covered. 

How long is banana pudding good for?

Banana pudding will last up to 4 days in the fridge when placed in an airtight container. The bananas will start to turn brown over time in the fridge.

Can I Make These Ahead of time?

Yes, you can easily make these ahead of time. Assemble as directed excluding the whipped topping and the cookies on top. Cover and place in the fridge up to 24 hours ahead of time. When ready to serve, add whipping cream and cookies.

  • 2 bananas, sliced
  • ½ (8 ounce) package frozen whipped topping, thawed
