Why You’ll Love Air Fryer Banana Chips
There are so many reasons why you will fall in love with this simple snack. First of all, these use minimal ingredients that produce bold flavors. You will love the texture. They are crunchy, a little bit sweet with a nice crisp bite to them, not to mention they are way cheaper to make than to buy at the store.
How to Make Banana Chips in the Air Fryer
Step 1: Using a slicer or a knife, slice the bananas (⅛” thick) and line them up over a big plate or a baking sheet.
Step 2: Spray the top side of the bananas with olive oil. If you don’t have a spray, you can use a pastry brush to spread the olive oil over the surface of the banana slices.
Step 3: Sprinkle table salt or fine sea salt over the banana slices and flip them.
Step 4: Repeat the process on the other side. Add olive oil to the surface of the banana slices and then sprinkle some salt.
Step 5: One by one, place the banana slices on the air fryer basket. Don’t overlap the slices. If there is no room for all the slices, cook them separated in batches.
Step 6: Cook for 12 minutes at 360° F.
Step 7: Remove the basket from the air fryer and let it cool for about 5 minutes. Then, remove the banana chips from the air fryer basket using a spatula and line them up in a wire rack for cooling. Let it cool for 5 minutes and serve immediately in a bowl. Add extra salt to taste if needed. Enjoy!
Tips Tricks and FAQs
- You will want to make sure that you cut your bananas all the same size. I recommend ⅛” but you can cut them up to ¼”. The most important thing is consistency in size.
- These are perfect for snacks, lunch boxes, or to add to the top of cereal for a little bit of crunch.
- If you use overripe bananas they will not crisp as much as ripe bananas.
- If you find your banana chips to be a little bit more chewy than you prefer, place them back in the Air Fryer and cook them for an additional minute or two.
- You can omit the salt, but it helps pull out the sweetness of the bananas.
Storage
You will want to let your banana chips completely cool first. Once they have cooled, you can place in them an airtight container and store them at room temperature for up to 5 days.
