Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • Make sure eggs, butter, and milk all are at room temperature. This helps make the muffins light and fluffy.
  • You can easily adapt the recipe to make mini muffins. You will just need to adjust the cooking time.
  • Do not over mix the batter. When you over mix it creates more dense/ dry  muffins. When mixing the dry ingredients into the wet batter, mix just until the dry ingredients have combined. This should take about 30 seconds.

Can I make this muffin without the streusel topping?

Yes, the streusel topping is optional but it is another element of flavor and it is an amazing addition.

What is the best type of apple to use for apple cinnamon muffins?

I prefer using a pink lady apple because it is an easy balance between sweet and tart. Pink lady apples can be difficult to find because they are usually the last to harvest during the season. If you are having trouble finding pink lady apples you can also use Gala apples. They hold their shape when baking as well.

Can I grate my apples instead of dicing?

Absolutely, I have used grated apples so the batter is really infused with the flavor in every bite. I also like the small diced apples so you get a pop of apple in some bites. Either way works great.
