You can make a homemade dipping sauce or go straight for ketchup or enjoy them plain. However you choose these sweet potato fries are delicious.
Are Sweet Potato Fries Better For You Than Regular Fries
You will find that sweet potato fries have a higher calorie and carb count but they are richer in nutrients. So in a sense you get more nutrients out of sweet potato fries but I wouldn’t say there is a huge difference.
How To Cut Sweet Potatoes Into Fries
The key to easily cutting sweet potatoes into wedges is using a sharp knife. Sweet potatoes are pretty tough so having a knife that is sharp helps to get cleaner cuts.
Then cut potato in half first, then work at cutting into smaller sections making sweet potatoes the size you prefer.
Do You Peel Sweet Potatoes For Homemade Fries
Peeling sweet potatoes to make fries is optional. The skin when cooked as fries gets crispy and can add texture to the fries. But if you prefer no skin, peel away.
The skin of sweet potatoes does carry nutrients, so eating the peels can be very beneficial.
Tip For Making Sweet Potato Fries In Air Fryer
Cook in batches
Take the time and cook your potatoes in batches if you don’t have room. You do not want to layer your fries. The area that touches each other will not crisp up properly.
Evenly Cut
Aim to cut your fries evenly. This is key so that each French Fry gets cooked the same amount of time. If you have thick and thin you will find the end result is inconsistent in texture.
Serve Hot
Sweet potato fries are best when served fresh and hot. Whip these up let them cool for a few minutes and serve!

What to Pair With Sweet Potato Fries
- Hamburgers
- Sandwiches
- Meatloaf
- Chicken dish
- Pork chops
The options are endless for what these fries pair well with. Sweet potatoes are pretty relaxed in flavor so they work well with most proteins.
Do Sweet Potato Fries Store Well
Sweet potato fries do not store very well. They will become mushy as they cool down. If you have leftover fries, you can store them in the fridge in airtight container.
To Reheat I found placing them in the oven preheated at 350 degrees works great. Then heat until they are warmed through.
