How to Dehydrate Marshmallows
If you have ever wondered how to dehydrate marshmallows at home, then you are in luck because this is a super simple guide to mastering dehydrating marshmallows at home! You will be amazed at how good these taste and how easy they are to make!
I love dehydrating marshmallows at home. Any variety or flavor of marshmallow will do! I love using the Lucky Charms marshmallows (so I can add even more to my cereal, because yes, I love Lucky Charms), but I also love grabbing seasonal marshmallows throughout the year and then dehydrating them so we can enjoy them for most of the year.
These dehydrated marshmallows are a special treat in Whipped Hot Chocolate as well as my famous Peppermint White Hot Chocolate.
What does a dehydrated marshmallow taste like?
You might be wondering what a dehydrated marshmallow tastes like. Well, if you ever had Lucky Charms marshmallows in the cereal those are dehydrated marshmallows.
What do I dehydrate marshmallows in?
I love dehydrating my marshmallows in my Instant Vortex Plus, but if you don’t have one of these you can use other products like the Ninja Foodi and the Ninja Foodi Grill as long as it has a dehydrating button. You might need to adjust the time a bit depending on your appliance.
How to Dehydrate Marshmallows at home
- Dehydrate at 160 degrees 4 -5 hours, flip the trays halfway.
Tips for Dehydrating marshmallows
- If you have big marshmallows you might want to cut them in smaller pieces.
- You can’t over dehydrate a marshmallow. You want them to be crunchy and if you want to create marshmallow powder you want them to be even drier.
- Let them sit before testing if they are done. They need to come to room temperature to test the doneness of them.
What happens to a dehydrated marshmallow?
It might surprise you to learn that dehydrated marshmallows actually puffs up a bit after they are dehydrated (be sure to leave a bit of space between marshmallows so they do not stick to each other). Coming out of the dehydrator they will be a little squishy. Just set them out for a bit and then let them cool down. Down this process they will harden.
How do dehydrated marshmallows last for?
You can easily store dehydrated marshmallows for 6 months. You can store them in a mason jar or even vacuum seal them with a Foodsaver.
