What is whipped hot chocolate?
You might be scratching your head as to what whipped hot chocolate is, but if you are on Tik Tok you probably know!
It is the most creamy chocolatey drink that can be served both warm or hot.
Whipped hot chocolate is created when you mix hot chocolate mix, powdered sugar, and heavy whipping cream together until soft peaks form that is then added to cold or hot milk.
It creates the richest and frothiest drink that you will ever taste.
How to Make Whipped Hot Chocolate
- Add hot chocolate mix, powdered sugar, & heavy cream into a bowl.
- Start to mix with a hand mixer (you can do it vigorously by hand). Mine took 3 minutes with a hand mixer to reach the perfect consistency. You want very stiff peaks.
- Pour hot or cold milk into a glass. You want to fill just a bit higher than half with milk.
- Add 2-3 large spoonfuls of whipped hot chocolate onto the top of your milk.
- Add ice if doing yours iced.
- Start to mix the whipped hot chocolate into your milk.
- Enjoy
Tips Tricks and FAQs
- Be sure your heavy whipping cream is cold. This will help it to form peaks quicker than if it has been sitting out.
- You do not want to use premade whipping cream from the can. Take a few minutes to whip this up when you are ready to enjoy it.
- Be sure to mix the whipped chocolate into the milk before you start drinking it. This gives it that amazing frothy flavor that we love!
- Feel free to use your favorite hot chocolate powdered mix. I love to use a richer hot chocolate for a more chocolatey flavor.
- Swap out the cocoa mix completely for unsweetened cocoa. This will make for a bittersweet treat or double the sugar for the sweetness you love.
- Get creative! Add vanilla or peppermint extract or even a little liquor if you choose.
Storage
Fridge
You can store your leftover whipped hot chocolate in the fridge for up to 5 days in an airtight container.
When you are ready to enjoy again, just whisk and bring it back to life.
