Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • You will want to drain off the excess juice from the tomatoes once they are cut. You don’t want the excess liquid in the tomato mixture.
  • When you go to cut your basil be sure to use a sharp knife. This helps create clean cuts.
  • Try to cut your tomatoes all the same size; this makes for a great presentation.
  • You will want to warm your baguette in the oven for a few minutes. You can also place your slices of bread under the grill until it is lightly toasted.

Storage

You will want to enjoy this right away. If you want to store it for later be sure to store the tomato mixture separate from the bread.

Store your tomato mixture in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Store your bread in a plastic bag for up to 3 days at room temperature.

Can I make this ahead of time?

Yes, you can make the tomato mixture ahead of time. This allows the flavors to mix together. Prior to adding it to the bread, you will want to drain your mixture.
