Tips Tricks and FAQs
- If the watermelon sherbert is a little too hard to scoop, let it sit on the counter for a few minutes prior to scooping it.
- Be sure you use full fat milk when making this recipe. If you don’t, your sherbet may be more crumbly than you would like.
- While you can enjoy this after 5 hours, I like to make mine the day before serving.
- If you find that your watermelon is not very sweet, you can add a little bit of honey to the mixture to make it a little sweeter.
- Want to add even more flavor? Mix in some mini chocolate chips an hour after putting your watermelon sherbet in the freezer. They not only look cute because they look like little watermelon seeds but taste great as well.
Storage
You will want to store this in the freezer covered with plastic wrap. It will last for up to 2 months before it starts to develop freezer burn if stored properly.
Yes, you will want to make your watermelon sherbet at least 5 hours earlier than serving. This allows it to set and freeze. I prefer to make it the night before to allow it to really have time to set.
There are a few reasons why your watermelon sherbet is not the consistency you would like it to be.
- Your sherbet is too cold. Let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes to warm up. There is not enough fat in it. Don’t skimp and use skim milk, use full fat milk when making this recipe.
- There is not enough sugar in the sherbet.
