What You Will Love About This Recipe
Quick and Easy: The Ninja Foodi streamlines the cooking process, making it easier than ever to create homemade eggnog without worrying about overcooking.
Rich and Creamy: With a perfect blend of milk, heavy cream, and egg yolks, this recipe delivers a luxurious texture that rivals any store-bought version.
Customizable: Love a stronger spice profile? Add extra cinnamon or nutmeg. Prefer a thicker texture? Use whole milk instead of 2%. This recipe is flexible to your taste.
Wholesome Ingredients: Made with real eggs, sugar, and cream, this recipe is free of artificial flavors or preservatives.
Festive Flair: Garnish with nutmeg or a cinnamon stick for an extra touch of holiday magic.
INGREDIENTS:
- 6 egg yolks
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 ½ cups milk (I used 2% but you can use whole milk as well)
- 1 ½ cups heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Nutmeg for garnish *optional*
How to Make Eggnog in the Ninja Foodi
- Place the egg yolks into the cooking pot of the Ninja Foodi. Don’t forget to set the whites aside for another recipe.
- Add the sugar, and the milk. With a whisk mix well. Place your Ninja Foodi on the Air Fryer / Stove Top and select Sear and saute mode. Place the heat on #2 (down arrow)
- Cook and mix until the temperature reaches 150 degrees F. I used a silicone whisk so I don’t scratch the bottom of the pan. Keep an eye on the mixture. It will reach the temperature quickly and mixing it while cooking helps the mixture to stay smooth and cook evenly.
- Once it has reached the temperature, remove it from the heat and add the heavy cream, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Mix until all combined.
- Let the mixture cool to room temperature and place in the fridge until completely cool.
- Serve and Enjoy!
Tips & Tricks
- Temperature is Key: Use a food thermometer to ensure the mixture reaches 150°F. This ensures safety while maintaining a smooth texture.
- Keep It Moving: Stir continuously while cooking to prevent the eggs from curdling and to create a consistent texture.
- Cool Completely: Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature before refrigerating. This step helps it chill evenly and develop its full flavor.
- Add Alcohol (Optional): For an adult twist, stir in rum, bourbon, or brandy after the mixture has cooled. Start with 1-2 ounces per serving.
- Repurpose Egg Whites: Don’t waste the leftover egg whites! Use them for meringues, omelets, or even a batch of macarons.
