Tips Tricks and FAQs
- You will not want to use Kraft American singles. Be sure you use American cheese from the deli. This cheese is what helps thicken your mac and cheese.
- If you want a crispier top you may leave it under the broiler for a bit longer, but be sure you watch it because you don’t want to burn your mac and cheese.
- Note that you want to cook your noodles for the full 20 minutes. This helps the pasta and cheese create a creamy consistency rather than the noodles soaking up all the sauce.
- This recipe works best if all your ingredients are at room temperature when creating this dish.
- We recommend you use whole milk for a nice creamy thick mac and cheese, but you can use lower-fat milk if you prefer. If you do, you will find that your dish is not as creamy.
Storage
You will want to store your mac and cheese in the fridge in an airtight container. This will last up to 4 days.
Can I make this ahead of time?
Yes! You can make this up to 24 hours ahead of time. Place it covered in the fridge uncooked. We recommend adding the cheese to the top right before baking.
