On Sunday it is notorious that I will be sitting on the couch and get a sudden urge to eat Chick-Fil-A. If you are a Chick-fil-A lover like me, you know that this is a problem, until now! Meet the Copycat Chick-fil-A Chicken sandwich. It is tender and juicy and tastes identical to the one you get at Chick-Fil-A! How to Make Copycat Chick Fil A Chicken Sandwich

1. Soak chicken filets in dill pickle juice for at least one hour but preferably up to 6 hours.

2. Heat peanut oil in a large skillet or deep-fryer over medium-high heat to 375 degrees.

3. Drain pickle juice from chicken pieces and pat chicken dry with paper towels.

4. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, pepper, and paprika. Set aside.

5. Mix the milk and egg until well blended. Dip each piece of chicken into the milk & egg mixture and then toss in the flour mixture. Shake off extra flour and gently place the chicken into hot peanut oil.

6. Fry the chicken filet for about 5 minutes on each side or until the chicken is 165 degrees inside and juices run clear. Drain on clean paper towels.

7. On a griddle over medium-high heat, melt the butter. Place the hamburger buns with the open face down onto the griddle. Grill for about 2 minutes or until lightly toasted.

8. Serve the chicken filets on the buns with pickles.

* Want to make a deluxe sandwich? You can! Just add lettuce, tomato, and a slice of cheese to the sandwich. Typically it is served with American, but I always swap it out for Pepper Jack cheese.

Storage

You will want to store your leftover chicken filets in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. When you are ready to enjoy, reheat and make a new sandwich.

You can freeze your Copycat Chick-Fil-A chicken patties. Place them in a freezer-safe container and place them in the fridge for up to 2 months.

Can I Make this Chicken Chick-Fil-A sandwich in the Air Fryer?

Yes! You can make this in the Air fryer! Follow the recipe when it comes to marinating and seasoning. After your chicken is breaded, spray it with an olive oil spray then place your chicken in the Air Fryer basket that has been preheated to 370 degrees. Cook for 10 to 12 minutes, flipping halfway through the cooking time. When you flip your chicken, spray it again with olive oil spray.

Ingredients

  • For chicken:
  • 4 large boneless, skinless chicken breast fillets, or boneless skinless chicken breast cut in half through the thickness, pounded flat
  • 1 cup dill pickle juice
  • 1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • Peanut oil, for frying
  • For sandwich:
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 tablespoon salted butter
  • Pickles, if desired
