What Will Someone Love About This Recipe

There’s so much to love about this air fryer salmon recipe! First, it’s incredibly easy and fast—perfect for busy nights when you want a nutritious meal without spending ages in the kitchen. The air fryer gives the salmon a perfectly crisp exterior while keeping it juicy and tender on the inside, with minimal oil needed, so it’s lighter and healthier than pan-frying.
Another bonus? This recipe is wonderfully adaptable. You can customize the seasoning to your liking, whether you prefer the boldness of Old Bay, the classic flavor of garlic salt and pepper, or even your own spice blend. Plus, if you’re looking for variety, you can use this recipe to make salmon bites for a fun twist.

How to Make

Step 1: Start by patting down your salmon fillets with a paper towel. You want to remove the excess liquid from the salmon.

Step 2: then you will spray or baste your fillets with olive oil, or oil of your choice. Top with your favorite seasoning.

Step 3: Air fry for 10 minutes then check the salmon to see if it is done yet or not. If not, cook another minute or two and recheck.

What is The Best Seasoning For Salmon

You can use salt and pepper, lemon pepper, season all, old bay, etc. Feel free to mix up your own seafood blend and sprinkle on it.

We tend to do salt, pepper, and garlic or straight season all.

Tips & Tricks

  • Pat the Salmon Dry: Before adding oil or seasonings, pat the salmon filets dry with a paper towel. This helps the oil and spices adhere better, giving you a perfectly crisp exterior.
  • Use Olive Oil Spray: If you want an even lighter option, go for an olive oil spray. It covers the salmon lightly and evenly without adding too much extra oil, which helps achieve that beautiful, golden crust.
  • Don’t Overcrowd: Make sure the filets are laid flat in a single layer with space around them. Overcrowding can lead to uneven cooking and prevent the salmon from crisping up nicely.
  • Check the Temperature: Use a meat thermometer to ensure your salmon reaches 145°F for perfect doneness. Cooking times can vary slightly depending on the thickness of the filets, so checking helps avoid undercooking or drying out the salmon.
  • Experiment with Flavors: While Old Bay and Season All are classics, try Cajun seasoning, lemon pepper, or even a dash of smoked paprika for extra flavor.
  • Try Salmon Bites: For a fun twist, cut the salmon into bite-sized pieces and cook them for around 8-10 minutes. These make a delicious, healthy snack or appetizer.

What to Serve With Salmon

The sky is the limit on what to pair with salmon. I will share a handful of our favorites!

FAQs

Yes! You can cook frozen salmon in the air fryer, but you may need to add a few extra minutes to the cooking time. Preheat the air fryer and cook at 400°F for about 12-15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F.

No, flipping isn’t necessary. The air fryer circulates hot air around the salmon, so it will cook evenly without needing to flip. However, if you prefer extra crispiness on both sides, you can flip halfway through.

Spraying the basket lightly with olive oil or lining it with parchment paper made for air fryers can help. Also, make sure to pat the salmon dry before adding oil and seasonings, which helps avoid sticking.

Feel free to use any seasonings you like! Simple salt and pepper, lemon pepper, garlic powder, or even a Cajun blend all work well.

Absolutely! Cooking salmon with the skin on helps keep the fish moist. Place the salmon skin-side down in the air fryer for best results. The skin will crisp up nicely and can be enjoyed or easily removed after cooking.

Store leftover salmon in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. To reheat, air fry at a lower temperature, around 350°F, for a few minutes, or use the microwave to gently warm it up without drying it out.
