You may have also seen it called French Onion Rice Bake.  As far as I am concerned I do not care what you call it as long as it ends up on my plate.  LOL, My husband agrees with me completely, any rice dish is his favorite. I learned many years ago the way to his heart was by feeding him lots of rice.

Fool Proof Stick of Butter Rice

If you have cooked rice before and had a difficult time getting it perfect, this dish is especially for you. It is fail-proof, you are guaranteed the most delicious perfectly cooked rice.

Do You Use A Whole Stick of Butter

You will use eight tablespoons of butter, I know it might sound like a lot, but trust me. This recipe is outstanding and the butter supplies liquid that your rice soaks up to help add more flavor to the rice recipe.

What Rice to Use for Stick of Butter Rice

I use uncooked white rice. I find it soaks up nicely and cooks evenly. If you were to use different rice you might have to adjust liquid content so it works. I can’t fully say if other grains of rice work.

What to Pair With Rice

This recipe is great to eat alone if you want a meatless dish. Or pair with any type of pork, steak, chicken and more. We have paired it with baked chicken, pork tenderloin and the list continues. This rice dish is super versatile.

Can I Double Stick of Butter Rice Recipe

Absolutely. This recipe doubles nicely. Just reach for a 9×13 pan to use for doubling. You don’t want the rice mixture too thick in a pan or it will take longer to cook.

How to Store Leftover Rice

Place any leftovers you may have in an airtight container and place them in the fridge. Your rice will store for 3-4 days. At that time toss out any leftovers you may have. I do recommend using your best judgment on if your rice has gone bad or not.

Is it Safe to Reheat Rice

Yes, you can Reheat rice and serve it. Whether you do microwave or warm in a pan or stove either works. Just make sure if pan method you add in some broth if the rice seems dry.

Also, make sure to never hear rice up more than once as that will allow bacteria to begin to grow,

Will Stick if Butter Rice Freeze

You can freeze a stick of butter rice but know when you thaw and Reheat the texture could be slightly different.

For freezing place in a freezer friendly container and toss in the freezer for up to three months. Thaw in the fridge the night before you plan to hear or warm up from frozen.

You might need to add in the extra broth if the rice seems dry.
