Breakable Candy Mummies
It’s almost Halloween and I am starting to pull out all my decorations and start my baking! These breakable candy mummies will be a huge hit this year! Made of white chocolate with a surprise inside you are guaranteed they will be the hit of Halloween this year!
What kind of chocolate is used in breakable candy mummies?
You can use any variety of chocolate as long as it is melting chocolate. I always opt for higher quality chocolate just because it usually has better flavor.
Directions:
- Heat 1 c of candy melts in a medium glass bowl in the microwave for 1 minute at 50% power. Stir well, and continue heating in 30 second intervals until the candies are fully melted and smooth/creamy. Place the silicone mold on a flat tray or baking sheet, and spoon approximately a tbsp of the melted candy into the molds. Coat the inside of the mold with the back of a spoon. Make sure to make the edges a little thicker, so that they don’t break when melding together. If the candy is pooled at the bottom, spread again to evenly coat all sides, or your sphere will be less circular, and more flat on the bottoms from the pooled candy. Place in the refrigerator for 3-5 minutes to set.
- Once set, pull the sides gently away from the candy sphere, and push up from the bottom to release the candy.
- Set on a plate or tray, and fill 3 of the candy halves with about a tablespoon or more of skittles, and top with 3 gummy worms.
- Place a small heat safe plate in the microwave, and heat for approximately 20 seconds. Place one of the empty candy halves open side down on the plate, and twist slightly to melt the edges. Immediately place onto one of the candy fill halves, and twist again slightly to close. If you have any gaps, you can heat a spoon in warm water, and then rub across the seams to slightly melt together, or you can rub with your finger. Repeat this process until you have 3 filled candy spheres.
- Next, melt the remaining ⅓ c of white candy the same as you did in step 1. Drape a sandwich bag over your hand, and fill with the melted candy. Snip the corner with kitchen shears, and add a tiny dot to the back of each candy eyeball, and place 2 eyes on each sphere. Begin piping lines back and forth, and up and down in random patterns over the sphere to look like a mummy. Let set for another 3-5 minutes.
- These would make a great treat for Halloween parties, co-workers, or just to enjoy with your kids. When you are ready to enjoy, just tap with a small wooden mallet until the candy cracks open.

To store these you want to be sure to not keep them in the fridge. You will want to store them in an airtight container in a cool dry place. Storing them in the fridge will cause the chocolate to start to sweat.
