Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • Shake your buttermilk in the carton before measuring it. This helps distribute the buttermilk flavor that usually sinks to the bottom as it sits in the fridge.
  • You will want to make sure your buttermilk is at room temperature. If it is too cold, it will not activate the yeast and your bread will not rise.
  • Be sure to check the date of your yeast before adding it to your mixture. Using expired yeast can cause your bread to not rise properly.
  • Allow your bread to sit for at least 45 minutes before slicing it. Use a serrated knife for cutting.
  • If you prefer you can use dried buttermilk powder to make this bread.
  • Add some of your favorite herbs to the mixture. All you need is about 1 teaspoon.
  • Don’t check on the bread as it is cooking. Opening the lid will affect the baking process.
