How to Make Air Fryer Plantain Chips with Guacamole

  • Start by removing the peel of the plantain. First cut off the ends of your plantain on both sides, and then make an incision into the peel lengthwise, but make sure you don’t cut into the plantain. This makes it easier to remove the peel.
  • Then slice your plantain with a mandolin slicer, as thin as possible, or to your liking.

  • Mix the sliced plantain, coconut oil, salt and pepper and massage all the pieces, to make sure they all absorb some of that coconut oil.
  • Place them in the air fryer in a single layer, you will probably have to work in 2 or 3 batches.

Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • You want to be sure to use a mandolin slicer so that all your plantains are the same thickness so they cook evenly.
  • Your cooking time will depend on the thickness of the plantains. If your plantains are thicker, then you will need to cook them longer than the suggested time.
  • Depending on how crispy you want your plantains, you can reduce or increase your cooking time.
  • Be sure to not overcrowd your air fryer. You want to make sure there is enough room in between the plantains so that they become crispy.
