Tips and Tricks
-
Seal the edges well – Use water on your fingertips to press and seal the edges of the wonton wrappers tightly. A good seal helps prevent the filling from leaking out during air frying.
-
Don’t overfill – Stick with about one teaspoon of filling per wrapper. Too much and they might burst open while cooking.
-
Spray evenly – Give each rangoon a light mist of olive oil spray so they crisp up evenly in the air fryer.
-
Work in batches – Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket or tray. Leave space so the hot air can circulate properly.
-
Serve with a dip – These are fantastic with sweet chili sauce, duck sauce, or even spicy mayo.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make crab rangoon ahead of time?
Yes, you can make them a few hours in advance and keep them covered in the fridge until you are ready to air fry. You can also freeze uncooked ones for later.
Can I use imitation crab instead of lump crab meat?
Absolutely. Imitation crab is budget friendly and still tastes great. Just chop it up finely before mixing it in.
Can I bake these instead of air frying?
Yes. Bake at 400 degrees on a parchment-lined baking sheet for about 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. They won’t be quite as crisp as air fried, but still delicious.
Can I reheat leftovers?
Yes. Pop them back in the air fryer for a few minutes to re-crisp. Avoid the microwave if you want to keep them crunchy.
