Super Bowl Buttercream Board

The Super Bowl is one of those must watch events on TV, even if you watch it just for the commercials! The food is always delicious and the desserts even better. We always serve our air fryer chicken wings, our 7 layer dip cups, our football deviled eggs, and a bunch of other foods. When it comes to dessert I love to create some festive treats. This year we will be making this Super Bowl buttercream board and I could not be more excited! Not only is it super festive, but it is easy to make and I know that everyone is going to love it as they dip their favorite cookies and fruit into it!

What is a butter board? Or a buttercream board?

If you have yet to hear about butter boards or buttercream boards they have been filling our feeds on social media and Pinterest lately.

A butter board is softened butter that is spread on a wooden cutting board (or charcuterie board) that is topped with all kinds of toppings that you then enjoy with baguette bread.

A buttercream board is the same concept, but better in my opinion, where you pipe buttercream frosting on your board and dip cookies, fruit and anything you desire for a tasty dessert treat.

How to Make a Super Bowl Buttercream Board

  • Start by filling your green tipped piping bag with white icing (vanilla), and your pink tipped piping bag with chocolate icing.
  • Lay out your cutting board and determine where the top, bottom, and sides of your football will be by placing one dot of icing at each point.
  • Now pipe your chocolate icing onto the board using those four points as a guide and create an oval shape, as shown.
  • Fill in the oval with chocolate icing.
  • Now using your white icing and green tipped piping bag, create the strings on your football down the middle.

Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • If you prefer you can make your own buttercream frosting.
  • Be sure your board is sealed prior to adding the buttercream. Using a board that is not sealed will stain it.
  • Be sure that you never use a board that you have put raw meat on. It can have lots of bacteria that has seeped into the wood even after scrubbing it.
  • If you don’t have a board big enough you can always use a big serving tray. I have even seen people use a big sheet of parchment paper and create their buttercream board right on the countertop.
  • Grab your favorite cookies and fruit for dipping.

Storage

It is best to enjoy this on the day that you create it. All leftovers should be thrown away after they have been dipped and sat out for the party.
