Reindeer Krispie Treats
I feel like holiday Rice Krispies are a staple in every household! During Easter, we always make Easter Chick Rice Krispie Treats, and during Christmas, we alternate between Santa Hat Rice Krispies and these adorably cute Reindeer Krispie treats. These reindeer inspired Rice Krispie treats just make sense because everyone loves them! They are a chewy bar filled with so much marshmallow goodness and oh so delicious that is then dipped in chocolate to create the most adorable reindeers. If you are like me you can eat a whole pan by yourself. And they are so easy to make!
How to Make Reindeer Rice Krispie Treats
1. Prepare a 13 x 9 baking sheet with wax paper and a spritz of non-stick cooking spray.
2. Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat. When the butter is melted, add the marshmallows and melt, stirring constantly. Remove the saucepan from heat.
3. Fold in the cereal. Stir until the cereal is coated in the marshmallow.
4. Using a buttered spatula or greased wax paper evenly press mixture into the baking sheet. Cool completely.
5. Cut the cereal into 8 treats.
6. Place candy melts in a microwave safe bowl. Melt on high heat, stirring every 30 seconds until completely melted. Do not overheat. If the candy is too thick, add vegetable shortening or coconut oil in 1 teaspoon increments, up to 1 tablespoon, and stir well. Do not add water.
7. Spread melted candy over ⅔ of each Krispie treat and decorate to resemble a reindeer.
Tips Tricks and FAQs
- Be sure you use mini marshmallows. They melt so much better and become even more gooey.
- While heating the marshmallows in the microwave is easy, be sure to do it slowly over the stove.
- When spreading your rice krispie treats be sure your spatula is covered with butter or sprayed with cooking spray. This helps it to smooth out your rice krispie treats without sticking.
- If you are a lover of white chocolate you can easily use white chocolate to dip your reindeer Kripsie treats into instead of the chocolate.
- If the ears, nose, and mouth are having trouble sticking you can always have a can of frosting on hand. Just use a little bit to help these to stick.
- If you want to get really creative you can attach these each to a popsicle stick and have a reindeer on a stick for the kids to enjoy.
Storage
You will want to store these covered at room temperature. They will last about 5 days. Over time the rice Krispie treats will become harder and be less chewy.
