How to Make Instant Pot Quinoa
- Combine all the ingredients in your instant pot insert and put the lid in place.
- Set your pot to manual/high pressure and put the cook time at 1 minute.
- The pot will take about 5-10 minutes to pressurize before that 1 minute starts counting down.
- Let it naturally release for 15 minutes before removing your quinoa from the pot. Enjoy!
Tips Tricks and FAQs
- This recipe is so versatile that you can use any type of quinoa that you prefer as long as it is not a rice/ quinoa mixture.
- If you prefer you can use a different type of broth or just water. Please note that changing the type of liquid will alter the taste of the quinoa.
- Be sure you only set your Instant Pot for 1 minute of pressure. Any more than that will make your quinoa mushy.
- You can easily add your favorite spices, protein, etc. to make it a full meal, or just use it as a side.
- Be sure to let this naturally release for 15 minutes. Any more time will make it mushy whereas not letting it naturally release all the way can make it firmer than you would like.
- Be sure to add your salt! It helps tie the flavors together as your Quinoa cooks.
Storage
To store your leftover quinoa you will want to let it cool completely prior to storing. Once cooled, add it to an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
Can you freeze cooked quinoa?
Yes, you can freeze your leftover quinoa. Let it cool and then portion it out and store it in freezer-safe bags. When you are ready to use it, let it thaw in the fridge.
Do you need to rinse your quinoa first?
While you don’t have to soak or rinse your quinoa prior to cooking it, I do like to give it a quick rinse just to get rid of some of the bitterness, but this step is not necessary.
