Instant Pot hamburgers are so simple to make. They combine hamburger meat with your favorite seasonings that are cooked in just 10 minutes and pack a powerful amount of flavor. Let me first start by saying if you are skeptical about Instant Pot Hamburgers I get it~ the first time I told my friends about it they laughed at me until they tried it~ I promise you that instant Pot hamburgers are easy, flavorful, juicy and are virtually no mess! Once you make these and add your favorite toppings to them you may never grill hamburgers again or run through the drive-thru for that matter.

How to Make Instant Pot Hamburgers

  • Place ground beef into a bowl and mix the seasonings into the meat.

  • Divide the meat mixture into 8 portions. Shape each portion into a patty and press flat (about ½ inch thick.)

  • Wrap each patty in aluminum foil.

  • Pour the minimum required amount of water into the electric pressure cooker. Place the trivet into the bottom of the pressure cooker and loosely stack the foil packets on the trivet.

  • Secure the lid on the electric pressure cooker and set the valve to sealing. Program the electric pressure cooker using the manual or pressure cook setting for 10 minutes. When the cook cycle is complete, perform a quick release of the pressure.
  • Carefully unwrap the hamburger patties and serve with buns and desired toppings.

Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • To ensure they all cook properly you want to make sure all the patties are the same size. 
  • If you love onions add them to the top of the patty prior to wrapping it in flavor. It adds so much delicious flavor. 
  • Be sure to add the cheese as soon as you unwrap your burger to allow it time to melt. 
  • Want your burger a little pinker? Reduce the cooking time. 
  • This recipe works for other ground proteins. You may have to adjust the cooking time bit. 
  • Be sure to wrap each patty individually. 
  • This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled.

Storage

Store your leftover hamburger patties in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

  • ½ teaspoon to 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon to 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon to 1 teaspoon black pepper
