Homemade Bisquick

In our family, Bisquick is a staple. We use it in all our favorite recipes like Air Fryer Bisquick Sausage Balls, Bisquick Coffee Cake, Bisquick Sausage muffins and more! With the rising costs at the store, things are starting to get more and more expensive so I am turning more to making things at home.

Homemade Bisquick

This homemade Bisquick mix is one of my favorite DIY kitchen recipes to save money. Not only is it so easy to make, but the flavor is so delicious as well! In fact, my family prefers this more than the store-bought brand.

I love that I can make it in just five minutes and then I can keep it on hand in my fridge for up to 3 months. When I need to use it for one of our recipes I grab it and use it just like I would with the premade mix you buy at the store.

Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • When mixing, use a guard to prevent flour clouds and mess.
  • For the shortening, use Crisco; however, for added flavor, you can substitute it with unsalted butter that is cooler than room temperature but not as cold as it would be straight from the fridge.
  • Use Crisco directly from the fridge for best results, as you don’t want it too soft.
  • This homemade mixture can replace store bought Bisquick, using the same proportions as indicated on the Bisquick box.

Storage

Store your homemade Bisquick in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 months for optimal freshness.

It can be stored in a cool, dry place for about a week, it’s prone to spoil quickly due to the Crisco.

Freezing is not recommended as it may alter the texture.
