Guacamole Recipe
I am a firm believer that everything tastes better with guacamole! Whether I am adding it to my sheet pan chicken fajitas, dipping my Air Fryer BBQ Pulled Pork Taquitos, or adding it to my toast in the morning it is a staple in our home. You are going to love this simple recipe. I love that I can really mash the avocado or leave it a little more chunky for more of restaurant-style guacamole. It is full of flavor and ready to enjoy in minutes.
How to Make Guacamole
- Cut avocados length wise, twist to open, squeeze into medium sized bowl and remove pits. You can remove pits first and scoop avocado out with a spoon if you prefer.
- Add red onion, cilantro, sour cream, salt, hot sauce, and lime juice and mash with a fork. Continue stirring until well combined.
- Serve with tortilla chips.
Tips Tricks and FAQs
- A secret I learned a long time ago is if you want to prevent your guacamole from turning brown, add the avocado pits back into the guacamole after it is made.
- Be sure to buy your avocados ahead of time to ensure they are ripe. Place them on the counter to continue ripening them. When they are ripe enough, place them in your fridge.
- You can swap out the lime juice for lemon juice if you want to switch up the flavor a bit.
- You can omit the sour cream if you prefer, but if you do add an additional avocado to the recipe.
Storage
I prefer enjoying my guacamole right after making it. This brings so much flavor and helps prevent it from browning. You can store it in an airtight container with plastic on top of the guacamole if you prefer. Guacamole can be stored for up to 3 days in the fridge.
What is the secret to keeping guacamole green?
The secret to keeping your guacamole green is making sure that it is not exposed to air. Place your guacamole in your air-tight container then cover it with plastic wrap and then press down on the guacamole. Remove all the air pockets that you see by pressing down in that area. By doing this you can limit the browning.
