Is This Similar To A Banana Split
This breakfast banana split recipe is very similar to a banana split. The biggest change is you use yogurt in replace of ice cream. It is going to be loaded with fruits, granola, nuts or whatever toppings you might pick.
Variations To Banana Split Breakfast Parfait
- Swap yogurt with cottage cheese
- Reach for Greek Yogurt for a more protein packed yogurt
- Swap out the fruit for your favorite ones and create a one-of-a-kind parfait
- Swirl on some chocolate syrup or caramel for added sweetness
- Drizzle with honey
- Drizzle with peanut butter or nut butter
- Etc
As you can see there are so many ways to make this banana split. I love making my own yogurt, and then using it for these bananas.
How Do You Make Instant Pot Yogurt
Do you own an Instant Pot? If so you might be interested to know that you can make homemade yogurt in your pot. It does take a little time, but it is worth it in the end.
You can adjust the texture of how thick you want your yogurt, add in flavoring, and more. The Instant Pot I owned, didn’t have a yogurt button, so these directions help those who don’t have a yogurt button, still have fresh homemade yogurt anytime they want.
Can I Make These Banana Split Yogurt Parfaits in Advance
Banana Split parfaits are best made fresh. The bananas will begin to brown and discolor once peeled and sliced. So it is best to make these right before you plan to eat.
You can prep the fruit in advance like dicing up strawberries and such. You just don’t want to do too much prep work on fruits that are more delicate than others.
Can I Use Frozen Fruit Instead of Fresh Fruit
Want to use frozen berries in replace of fresh fruit on your banana parfait? Go right ahead. You can top your banana parfait with frozen berries and eat them chilled. Or opt to allow the fruit to thaw a bit before you pile it on.
Either option works and tastes great. Sometimes I prefer the texture of frozen fruit, it adds a nice change to fruit.
