Growing up everyone loved McDonald’s Apple Pies. I swear it was a staple in our life! In fact, it is one of my favorite go-to desserts at fast food restaurants! I love the sweet filling that is wrapped in the crispy crunchy crust! 

This year I set out to make a healthier version of this recipe and thanks to my Air Fryer I have found the perfect way to recreate this dish at home, meet your new Favorite dessert these Air Fryer Copycat McDonald’s Apple Pies.

 How to make Air Fryer Copycat McDonald’s Apple Pies

  • Roll out the pie crust and cut into 8 (3×6 inches) rectangles.

  • Spoon the apple pie filling onto every other rectangle.

  • Top with the remaining four rectangles of pie crust.
  • Crimp the edges with the fork. 
  • Whisk the egg and lightly coat each rectangle then slice several slits into the top of the pies.

  • Place pies on the air fryer rack & and air fry for 5-8 minutes at 360 degrees.

Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • Be sure you completely seal the apple pies. Preventing to do this will create quite a mess as the filling leaks out the sides. 
  • Be sure you don’t overfill the hand pies.

Freezer

You can store cooked apple pies in the freezer in a freezer safe bag for about 2 months. Thaw them in the fridge overnight.

Want to prep these ahead of time? No problem. These store nicely prior to cooking. Once you assemble your mini apple pies you will want to cover and place in the fridge wrapped tightly. These will last about 2 days before cooking. 

Can I make these in the oven?

Yes, you can easily make these in the oven. Place your apple pies on a piece of parchment paper and then on a baking tray. Cook at 400° F for about 20 minutes. Be sure to let these cool prior to eating. 

Can I change out the filling?
