Top with a spoonful of Crunchy Chili Onion and a sprinkle of chopped green onions.

Storage and Reheating Guide
Leftovers store very well, which is another reason this recipe is so popular. Allow the dumpling bake to cool completely before transferring it to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to three days.
For reheating, the oven is the best option to maintain texture. Cover loosely and reheat until warmed through. If using the microwave, heat in short intervals and stir gently to avoid overcooking the dumplings. This recipe is best enjoyed fresh or within a few days, as freezing can affect the texture of the dumplings.

Why This Recipe Went Viral
This Trader Joe’s Dumpling Bake went viral because it checks all the boxes people love in a recipe. It is quick, uses mostly frozen items, and comes together with minimal prep, which makes it incredibly approachable. The visual appeal also plays a big role. Watching the dumplings bake under a layer of sauce and cheese until bubbly and golden is instantly satisfying.
Social media thrives on recipes that feel doable and deliver big results, and this one does exactly that. It looks impressive without being complicated, making people want to save it, share it, and try it themselves. The combination of comfort food flavors, ease, and that signature Trader Joe’s convenience is what helped this recipe spread so quickly.
What to Serve with Trader Joe’s Viral Dumpling Bake
If you want to turn this viral dumpling bake into a full Trader Joe’s inspired dinner spread, here are a few easy sides that pair perfectly and require almost no extra effort.
Jasmine Rice or Coconut Rice
A simple side of Trader Joe’s Jasmine Rice or their frozen Coconut Rice makes this meal feel complete. Spoon some of the creamy sauce from the dumpling bake right over the rice and it soaks up all that flavor beautifully.
Stir Fry Vegetables
Grab a bag of Trader Joe’s frozen Stir Fry Veggies or their fresh Vegetable Medley. A quick sauté with a splash of soy sauce balances the richness of the bake and adds color to your plate.
Trader Joe’s Chili Onion Crunch
If you love a little heat, drizzle some Trader Joe’s Chili Onion Crunch over the top right before serving. It adds texture, spice, and that extra viral factor everyone loves.
Asian Style Salad
Pair it with Trader Joe’s Asian Style Salad Kit for a crisp, refreshing contrast. The sesame dressing and crunchy toppings complement the creamy dumpling bake perfectly and make dinner feel restaurant worthy.

Ingredient Substitutions and Upgrades
One of the reasons this dumpling bake is so popular is how easy it is to customize. If you cannot find the exact Trader Joe’s dumplings used in the original recipe, almost any frozen dumpling or potsticker will work. Chicken, pork, beef, or vegetable dumplings all bake up beautifully, so you can choose based on your preferences.
For an easy upgrade, try adding extra vegetables like sliced bell peppers, mushrooms, or broccoli to make the dish more filling. If you want to boost the protein, cooked chicken or shrimp can be added right to the baking dish before it goes into the oven. You can also adjust the sauce to your taste by adding a splash of soy sauce, a drizzle of chili oil, or a spoonful of chili crisp for extra heat.
Cheese is another place where you can make this your own. Mozzarella creates that gooey pull everyone loves, while a blend of mozzarella and parmesan adds more depth of flavor. If you enjoy bold flavors, a sprinkle of green onions or sesame seeds on top right before serving adds freshness and a little crunch.

Tips & Tricks
- Don’t skip the whisking: Coconut cream can be thick or clumpy, so make sure to whisk the sauce ingredients until smooth before adding your dumplings.
- Use frozen potstickers straight from the freezer: No need to thaw — they cook perfectly in the oven.
- Make it vegetarian: Use vegetable gyoza instead of chicken and swap Soyaki for a plant-based soy sauce.
- Add veggies: Stir in a handful of spinach, sliced bell peppers, or shredded carrots before baking for extra color and nutrition.

I added in trader Joe’s garlic green beans for extra veggies and it went great!
What a great idea!!
Um, you should’ve suggested vegetarian potstickers. This dish is great without having to have meat or poultry.
That is a great idea but not the original recipe that has gone viral. I am pretty sure people who do not eat meat can think themselves to replace with the vegetarian potstickers. 😉
Not sure what happened, but the coconut cream was still chunky after cooking and the oil separated. Used all Trader Joe’s ingredients listed above.
Hmmmm that is odd. You do have to give it a good mix with a whisk to break up those chunks that might be there out of the can. I am so sorry that happened.
