Tips & Tricks

  1. Use Fresh or Frozen Blueberries: Whether fresh or frozen, be sure to use high-quality blueberries for the best flavor. If using frozen blueberries, do not thaw them before adding them to the bread machine to prevent them from bleeding into the batter.
  2. Coat Blueberries in Flour: To prevent the blueberries from sinking to the bottom of the bread loaf, toss them in a tablespoon of flour before adding them to the bread machine. This helps distribute them evenly throughout the bread.
  3. Adjust Sweetness: Depending on your preference, you can adjust the sweetness of the bread by adding more or less sugar. Taste the batter before baking and adjust accordingly.
  4. Customize with Lemon Zest: For a burst of citrus flavor, consider adding lemon zest to the batter. The bright, tangy flavor of lemon complements the sweetness of the blueberries beautifully.
  5. Add Vanilla Extract: Enhance the flavor of the bread by adding a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the batter. Vanilla adds depth and complexity to the overall taste of the bread.
  6. Select the Correct Setting: Use the “sweet” or “quick bread” setting on your bread machine for this recipe. These settings are designed for recipes that contain added sugar and fruits like blueberries.
  7. Cool Completely Before Slicing: Allow the bread to cool completely in the bread pan before slicing. This helps prevent it from crumbling and ensures clean slices.
  8. Store Properly: Store any leftovers in an airtight container or resealable plastic bag at room temperature for up to 3-4 days. Alternatively, you can freeze individual slices for longer storage. Simply thaw them at room temperature or reheat them gently in the microwave before serving.
