INGREDIENTS

  • 24 Double Stuff Oreos
  • 2 – 10 oz packages ghirardelli white melting wafers
  • Black sugar pearl sprinkles
  • Orange tic tacs
  • 2 oz pack sour punch straws, cut in half
  • 3.14 oz bag milk chocolate M&Ms
  • Sprinkles (optional)

EQUIPMENT

Two baking sheets

Parchment paper

DIRECTIONS

  • Gather your ingredients, then prepare two baking sheets with parchment paper and set it aside.
  • Using a double boiler, melt the white melting wafers on low heat until smooth.
  • Take one golden oreo and fully submerge it into the melted wafers and make sure it is evenly coated. Lift it out with a fork and lightly tap it on the edge of the pot a few times to remove the excess. Transfer it to the lined baking sheet then repeat with a couple more Oreos to work in small batches.
  • Now it is time to decorate the snowmen faces. Add two sugar pearls for the eyes, then place an orange tic tac in the center for the nose. Give each snowman a smile by placing 4-5 sugar pearls under the tic tac.
  • For the earmuffs, attach a 2-inch piece of sour punch straw for the strap. You may need to hold it in place for 10 seconds so the melts can firm up a bit. Then attach one M&M on each side of the strap.
  • Repeat the steps with the rest of the oreos. Then place the snowmen on the baking sheets into the fridge for 10 minutes or until fully set.
  • If you have sprinkles, you can make some extra chocolate covered oreos and sprinkle them on top. Place in the fridge until set.

Tips & Tricks

  • Work in small batches when dipping the Oreos so the chocolate stays smooth and easy to work with.
  • Have all decorations ready before you start dipping since the coating sets quickly.
  • If the chocolate starts to thicken, gently rewarm it instead of overheating.
  • Hold the earmuff pieces in place for a few seconds to help them stick securely.
  • Chill the cookies briefly to help everything set faster before moving or packaging.

Notes

If you can’t find sugar pearls, you can use black confetti sprinkles or black cookie icing and just dot the eyes and mouth on.

Instead of tic tacs for the nose, you can use orange sprinkles or orange cookie icing and draw a line with it.

Wilton carries snowman cookie decorations that would be perfect for this. It is a pack that has black sugar pearls and little carrot shaped sprinkles for the noses.

The M&M’s can be replaced with another candy such as Skittles or even peppermint. It’s so easy to mix up with your favorites.

Substitute the double stuf golden oreos for mega stuff or another flavor like mint, peanut butter, or peppermint.
