How to make Layered Taco Salad
- Press the lettuce into the bottom of a trifle bowl and layer the other ingredients on top of the lettuce in the order given, saving some tomatoes for the top.
- Best if served immediately. If the salad needs to be refrigerated, wait to add the Fritos, sour cream, and green onions before serving.
Tips Tricks and FAQs
- If you want to swap the ground beef for ground chicken or ground turkey you certainly can.
- If you want to create a fajita taco salad you can easily grill up some peppers and add in a layer of those.
- You can substitute the beans for some of your other favorite flavors if you choose.
- You can swap out the Fritos for Cheese Doritos or Cool Ranch Doritos.
- Add in a layer of corn if you would like as well for even more flavor.
- If you find yourself without a trifle dish you can make this in a 13 x 9 pan.
Storage
You can store this in the fridge for up to 3 days, but the chips and the lettuce will become soggy as the days go by.
Can I make this in advance?
Technically you can make layered taco salad ahead of time, but I don’t recommend doing it too early on because the chips will become soggy and the lettuce will start to wilt.
