The other day I showed you just how easy it was to make Beef Jerky in the Ninja Foodi, so I thought it would be fun to show you just how easy it is to make beef jerky in the Instant Vortex Plus.
It seems like there is a misconception that beef jerky is hard to make. With this technique, it is super simple to make the only thing it really takes is the time while you wait for it to marinate and cook. It is well worth the effort though because this beef jerky recipe is tender, full of flavor, and simply delicious.
How to make Instant Vortex Plus Beef Jerky
- Marinate for 8 hours to overnight. (if your meat is thicker, you can pound it between plastic wrap)
- Remove meat and pat dry.
- Lay meat on your trays.
- Press dehydrate. Set the temperature 160 degrees set the time to 5 hours. For pliable jerky cook for 2-3 hours, for a brittle jerky cook for 5 hours.
- At the halfway point of cooking, flip the position of your trays.
- Jerky is done when you can bend it without any moisture leaking.

- For the most tender jerky slice against the grain of the meat.
- If you would like a chewier jerky slice it with the grain.
- The flavors in this recipe are so good, but don’t feel like this is the only marinade recipe you can use. Feel free to mix up seasonings and flavors. How you cook your beef jerky in the Instant Vortx Plus stays the same.
- Use this recipe for turkey, venison, or even pork. The marinade will soak in really well to these proteins as well.

Is these a certain cut of meat that works better for jerky?
The secret to good jerky is tender meat. Be sure you choose a round, a flank steak, or a sirloin for the best results while making jerky.
What happens if I don’t marinate the jerky long enough?
If you get in a rush and don’t marinate the jerky for long enough it will lack flavor. You want to marinate the jerky for as long as possible (up to 24 hours). This helps those flavors really soak in to make perfectly flavored beef jerky. If you don’t have 24 hours to marinate you want to be sure you marinate for at least 8 hours.
Can you marinate beef jerky too long?
It is possible to marinate your beef jerky too long. You do not want to marinate it for longer than 24 hours.
Can I overcook beef jerky?
Yes, you can overcook beef jerky, so you want to be sure to keep an eye on it towards the end of cooking. If the jerky starts crumbling in your mouth or is really tough to chew there is a good chance that it was overcooked.

- ¼ Cup Soy Sauce
- 2 TBSP Worcestershire Sauce
- 2 TBSP Liquid Smoke
- 2 TBSP Brown Sugar
- 1 TSP Onion Powder
- 1 TSP Garlic Powder
- 1 TSP Black Pepper
- 1 TSP Salt
