Honey Baked Ham Recipe
If you’ve ever bought a store-made honey baked ham and thought it was delicious but just way too expensive, you are going to love this recipe. This Honey Baked Ham Recipe gives you that same sweet, sticky, perfectly glazed ham right at home with just a handful of simple ingredients. It turns out juicy, flavorful, and honestly tastes just as good, if not better, than the ones you buy pre-made.
Honey Baked Ham Recipe
This is one of those recipes that looks impressive on the table but is actually incredibly easy to make. You simply bake a spiral cut ham and finish it with a homemade honey glaze that caramelizes beautifully in the oven. If you are planning a full holiday meal, this pairs perfectly with crockpot mac & cheese loaded with bacon and broccoli, air fryer roasted carrots, and crockpot mashed potatoes to create a complete spread your family will absolutely love.
Whether you are making this for Easter, Christmas, or a Sunday dinner, this ham always turns out tender and packed with flavor. The combination of honey, brown sugar, butter, and warm spices creates that classic glaze everyone expects, and the best part is there are no complicated steps involved.

- 1 9-Pound Spiral Cut Ham
- 1 Cup Honey
- ¾ Cup Brown Sugar, packed
- 2 Tablespoons Salted Butter
- ½ Teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
- ½ Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
- ½ Teaspoon Ground Ginger
- ½ Teaspoon Ground Cloves

- Remove the ham from the packaging and place it face down in the middle of the prepared pan.
- Bake for 1 hour 15 minutes.
- About 15 minutes before the ham is finished, place the brown sugar, honey, butter, nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves in a small pot. Simmer over medium-low heat for about 10 minutes or until ingredients are fully combined.
- Remove the ham from the oven (remove the juices from the pan at this point if you want ham gravy) and drizzle 1 cup of the honey mixture all over the top of the ham so that it runs down and coats every bit of the ham.
- Place the ham back in the oven for another 15 minutes.
- Remove and use the leftover glaze to either pour over the ham or to baste each single serving, based on preferences. Enjoy!

Tips & Tricks
- Use a spiral cut ham for the best results. The glaze will soak down into all those slices and give you flavor in every bite.
- Bake the ham covered with foil for most of the cooking time to keep it nice and juicy. This helps prevent it from drying out.
- Remove the juices from the pan before adding the glaze if you want to make ham gravy. This is such a great bonus and adds even more flavor to your meal.
- If your ham is a different size, just adjust the cooking time. A good rule is about 10 minutes per pound at 325 degrees.
- Warm the glaze slowly and let it fully combine before pouring it over the ham. This helps everything melt together smoothly and evenly coat the ham.
- Save extra glaze for serving. Drizzling a little extra over each slice makes it even more delicious.

Storage & Reheating
Store leftover ham in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
To reheat, place slices in a baking dish with a little extra glaze or a splash of broth, cover with foil, and warm in the oven until heated through.
For freezing, portion the ham into smaller containers or freezer bags so you can easily grab what you need later. Let it thaw in the refrigerator overnight before reheating.
