What will I need to make garlic mushrooms and bacon?

You will need the following supplies:

  • Large Cast Iron Skillet
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Slotted Spoon (for removing bacon from the leftover grease)

How to clean mushrooms

It’s important when you are cooking with mushrooms that you clean them prior to using them. To clean mushrooms you will want to wipe each mushroom with a damp paper towel, if dirt is stuck on, use a soft pastry brush. Give them a light rinse by running them under cold water and then pat dry with a paper towel. Be sure that you do not soak them because they will absorb all the water and not brown while cooking. 

How to make garlic mushrooms and bacon

  • In a large cast iron skillet, fry the bacon over medium-low heat until it is crispy.
  • Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving the oil in the skillet.
  • Add the butter to the skillet and once melted, add the mushrooms and olive oil, deglazing the pan with a wooden spoon.

  • Allow the mushrooms to cook for a few minutes before adding the wine.
  • Let the wine reduce for 2-3 minutes, occasionally stirring.

  • Add the garlic and allow it to sweat for about a minute before adding the heavy cream, parsley, salt, and ground black pepper.

  • Reduce the heat to low and allow to simmer for 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.
  • Once the bacon has cooled, crumbled the bacon before adding it back to the skillet and stirring to combine all of the ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1 (12-ounce) package of bacon
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 (16-ounce) containers of mushrooms (washed and patted dry)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ¼ cup white wine
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon parsley
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. In a large cast iron skillet, fry the bacon over medium-low heat until it is crispy.
