Tips & Tricks

  • Even Coating is Key: Gently rotate the bag every hour (or as often as you can) to ensure every cracker is coated evenly.
  • Use Fresh Ingredients: Opt for fresh ranch seasoning packets and spices to get the best flavor.
  • Don’t Skip the Resting Time: Letting the crackers soak overnight is crucial for maximum flavor absorption.
  • Clean Storage: Once the crackers are ready, transfer them to a fresh bag or airtight container for easy snacking.
  • Adjust the Heat: If you prefer a milder snack, reduce the crushed red pepper to 1 tablespoon. For extra heat, add more!
  • Store these crackers in a sealed container or baggie for up to 1 week. I do not suggest refrigerating or freezing these.
  • You can use vegetable oil in place of canola, but I’ve never tried other oils to know if any other options are viable.

FAQs

Yes! While saltines are the classic choice, you can try this recipe with oyster crackers or mini saltines for a fun twist.

Store them in a sealed container or baggie at room temperature, and they’ll stay fresh for up to a week.

Canola and vegetable oil are preferred due to their neutral flavor. Olive oil might overpower the seasonings, but you can experiment!

Serve them on their own, pair them with dips like pimento cheese or spinach artichoke, or use them to add crunch to salads and soups.
