Tips Tricks and FAQs
- You want to be sure to use real espresso coffee to make this drink. You need it not only for the flavor but also for the espresso crema. This gives the Espresso Martini a nice frothy top.
- No espresso machine? No problem. Stop by your favorite coffee shop the day you plan to make these and pick up a couple of espressos.
- You want to be sure to use cooled espresso to prevent the ice from melting and making your drink watered down. You can easily cool it down by placing it in the freezer.
- In this recipe, we used plain vodka, but vanilla vodka is a delicious flavor twist as well.
- Kahlua is the most used coffee liqueur when making this drink, but feel free to use another kind if you prefer.
- You can add in ½ ounce of simple sugar if you prefer. This will make your drink a little sweeter.
Storage
You will want to enjoy your Espresso martini right away for the best flavor and texture. We do not recommend storing this for later.
To get the nice frothy top you want to make sure you vigorously shake the cocktail ingredients over plenty of ice. Plan to shake it longer than you usually shake other drinks. If you’re having trouble getting the Espresso Cocktail frothy you can cheat by adding a teaspoon of Aquafaba (the juice from chickpeas) You won’t be able to taste it and it will give you a very frothy top!
