The kids are going to go crazy this Easter for these Easter dirt pudding cups otherwise known as dirt pudding! This fun dessert combines Oreo cookies, pudding, whipped topping, and Easter candy to create the perfect dessert to make this Easter.

I grew up eating dirt dessert! I remember mom having a special shovel and pail just for this fun dessert! In fact, it was one I would always ask for on my birthday. I loved the chocolate pudding layers that were combined with crushed Oreos. The other day I was dreaming of this dessert so I thought it would be fun to create this fun Easter dirt pudding cup recipe so that we can have the same great flavors, but Easter themed! You are going to love the richness of this dessert and how simple it is to make! What will I need to make Easter Dirt Pudding Cups?

You will need the following ingredients:

  • Double stuff oreo cookies 
  • White chocolate pudding mix  
  • Milk
  • Frozen whipped topping
  • Easter candy eggs
  • Easter chick peeps

You will need the following supplies:

  • Mixing bowls
  • Measuring cups
  • Whisk
  • Rubber spatula
  • Food processor
  • Measuring spoons
  • Dessert cups

How to make Easter Dirt Pudding Cups

  • Empty the contents of the white chocolate pudding mix into a large mixing bowl. Add 2 cups of milk and whisk together until blended.

  • Once blended well, fold in (1) 8 ounce container of whipped topping. Continue to fold until the pudding and whipped topping are fully combined. There should be no visible lumps.

  • Then, place the Oreo cookies in the food processor and pulse until the Oreos appear to be ground into a dirt-like consistency. 

  • Place 2 tablespoons of ground oreo cookies in the bottom of your dessert cup. Next, place a layer of pudding over the oreo cookie layer. Then place another layer of ground oreo cookies over the pudding layer. Repeat again with a layer of pudding. Add as many layers as you would like that will fit into your dessert dish. Finally, place a final layer of ground oreo cookies on the top.

  • Place in the refrigerator for 1 hour. When you are ready to serve, garnish with Easter Peeps and Easter egg candies.
  • Serve immediately. Keep refrigerated when not being eaten!

Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • If you do not have a food processor you can crush your Oreos with a freezer bag and rolling pin. Just place your Oreos inside the bag and seal it. Be sure to remove most of the air, then roll over the cookies with your rolling pin. 
  • You can also use a piping bag to add your pudding mixture if you prefer.

  • If you want to make a giant Easter Dirt Pudding dessert you can. You will need to double or triple the recipe and then use a trifle dish so it creates the same beautiful layers that you can see. 
  • You can swap out the flavor of the pudding if you prefer. We love to use the white chocolate pudding mix to keep the bright white for the layers, but any color/ flavor will work. 

Storage

You will want to store these dirt pudding cups in the fridge. They will stay fresh for up to 4 days. It is best if you can store them in an airtight container.

Can I make these ahead of time?

Yes, you can make this dessert ahead of time. You can make the pudding mixture up to 24 hours in advance and store it covered in the fridge. When you are ready to serve, you can assemble these cute dirt cup desserts. If you prefer to assemble the entire dessert ahead of time, I suggest doing this up to 4 hours in advance.

Ingredients

  • (1) 15-ounce package double stuff oreo cookies
  • (1) 3.4-ounce box white chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups milk
  • (1) 8-ounce container frozen whipped topping
  • 1 bag Easter Cadbury Mini Eggs
  • 1 box assorted Easter Bunny peeps
  • Green sprinkles, optional

Instructions

  1. Empty the contents of the white chocolate pudding mix into a large mixing bowl. Add 2 cups of milk and whisk together until blended.
  2. Once blended well, fold in (1) 8-ounce container of whipped topping. Continue to fold until the pudding and whipped topping are fully combined. There should be no visible lumps.
