Air Fryer Venison Meatballs

We love meatballs because they are an easy meal or appetizer whenever you need something quick without sacrificing taste! They are so easy to make, have tons of flavor, and are pretty versatile based on your preferences. I love that I can choose between our reader’s favorite, Instant Pot Party meatballs or these Venison meatballs, and have dinner ready to serve in less than 30 minutes. Once you try these venison meatballs you will find yourself making them again and again.

What will I need to make Venison Meatballs

You will need the following ingredients:

  • Ground Venison (mixed with pork)
  • green onions
  • Eggs
  • Garlic
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Thyme
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • sea salt
  • cayenne pepper
  • Parsley
  • black pepper
  • Breadcrumbs
  • parmesan cheese.

You will need the following supplies: 

  • Air Fryer
  • cooking spray
  • mixing bowl

How to Make Venison Meatballs

  • Add all the ingredients to a large mixing bowl and mix well with your hands, really getting the ingredients incorporated well.

  • Scoop out 2 Tablespoons of the mixture and roll into a tight ball.

  • Once they’ve all been rolled and are ready to cook, take a cooking spray and lightly spray the bottom of the basket of the air fryer.

  • Turn on to preheat to 375°F.
  • Once it’s hot enough add half of the meatballs so that there is enough room for the air to circulate around all the meatballs (about 10 meatballs is fine). Give a light spray with the cooking spray.
  • Cook for 13 minutes, then remove from the air fryer.

Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • You can make your meatballs any size that you prefer. The most important thing to remember when making them is that they are all the same size in the batch you are cooking to ensure they all cook evenly. If you do change the size, you will need to change the cooking time. 
  • You can easily double the recipe if you would like to make a big batch.

Storage

You will want to store your cooked meatballs in the fridge in an airtight container. These will save for up to 3 days.

Can you freeze venison meatballs?

Yes, you can freeze venison meatballs. Cook your meatballs and let them completely cool. Once cooled, place them in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. If you are worried about them sticking together in the freezer, you can flash freeze them first. To do this, place a piece of parchment paper on a baking sheet and lay your meatballs on it without touching. Place in the freezer and freeze until frozen, then add to your freezer-safe container.

Can I omit the pork from this recipe?

You do not want to omit the pork. Since venison is very lean it adds some fat back into the meatball ensuring that they are juicy.

Ingredients

  • 2lb Ground Venison (with ground pork added 80/20%)
  • 4 Green Onions, Chopped
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 2 Cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 2 Teaspoons Thyme, dried
  • 1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 Pinch Cayenne Pepper
  • 2 Teaspoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Sea Salt
  • 2 Tablespoons Fresh Parsley, chopped
  • ½ Tablespoon Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 Cup Breadcrumbs
  • ¼ Cup Freshly Grated Parmesan Cheese

Instructions

  1. Add all the ingredients to a large mixing bowl and mix well with your hands, really getting the ingredients incorporated well.
