How to Make Chocolate Cake Mix Cheesecake Bars
- Preheat oven to 350F. Grease a 9×13 baking pan and set aside.
- In a large bowl, stir together chocolate cake mix, vegetable oil and 1 egg. It should be a crumbly consistency. Set aside 1 cup of the mixture for later.
- Pat the chocolate crumb mixture into the prepared baking pan. Bake for 10 minutes. Set aside to cool.
- Add the cream cheese to a large mixing bowl. Beat with a mixer on low speed until smooth. Add sugar, cocoa powder, 1 egg and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed until smooth, about 2 minutes.
- Spread cream cheese mixture evenly over the chocolate crust in the baking pan.
- Sprinkle reserved 1 cup of chocolate crumb mixture evenly on top.
- Bake for 18 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool completely before cutting into bars.
- To serve, drizzle with chocolate sundae sauce and top with vanilla ice cream, if desired.

- I recommend using regular cream cheese when you are making these chocolate cream bars. This recipe was not tested using light cream cheese.
- You can substitute canola oil for vegetable oil if you prefer.
- You do not need to wait for the crust to cool before adding the next layer. You can start making the cheesecake filling when the crust comes out of the oven.

- 1 box (15.25oz) chocolate cake mix
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 2 eggs, divided
- 1 (8oz) package cream cheese, softened
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup natural unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
