You will need the following ingredients:

  • Chinese Egg Noodles
  • sesame oil
  • chicken breasts
  • vegetable oil
  • red bell pepper
  • Ginger
  • Garlic
  • Water
  • soy sauce
  • Cornstarch
  • oyster sauce
  • Carrots
  • Onion
  • Cabbage
  • bean sprouts
  • Mushrooms
  • snow peas

How to Make Chicken Lo Mein

  • Prepare all the ingredients so that they’re ready to go into the pan.  
  • Cook the egg noodles to about 80%, per the package instructions.
  • Drain and add the sesame oil to coat the noodles.  Set aside.
  • Add 2 Tablespoons of the vegetable oil to a wok (or large skillet) over medium-high heat.
  • Once the chicken has been sliced thinly and seasoned with salt and pepper add to the wok and cook until done about 3-4 minutes.  Remove from the wok and set aside.
  • Add the sliced red bell pepper, ginger, garlic, and onion and cook for about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the water, soy sauce, cornstarch, oil, and oyster sauce.  Bring to a boil (about 2 minutes).
  • Add the carrot, cabbage, snow peas, and mushrooms and cook another 2 minutes.
  • Add back the chicken and noodles and add the bean sprouts.
  • Toss and top with green onions (optional).
  • Serve immediately.

  • You can easily swap out or use different vegetables. Try peppers, broccoli, water chestnuts, or cauliflower. 
  • Swap out your chicken for a different protein, or all together for a vegetable Lo Mein. 
  • You will be able to find Lo Mein noodles in the Asian Foods section of most grocery stores. In a pinch, you can use spaghetti noodles. 

Storage

To store your leftover chicken Lo Mein, you will want to let it completely cool and then store it in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Ingredients

  • 10oz Chinese Egg Noodles
  • 2 Teaspoons Sesame Oil
  • 2 Chicken Breasts, thinly sliced and seasoned with salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil, divided
  • 1 Red Bell Pepper, sliced
  • 2 Teaspoons Ginger, minced
  • 2 Cloves Garlic, minced
  • ¾ Cup Water
  • 1/3 Cup Soy Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 1 Tablespoon Oyster Sauce
  • 2 Medium Carrots, thinly sliced
  • ½ Onion, thinly sliced
  • ½ cup Cabbage, shredded
  • 2 Cups mushrooms, sliced
  • 8oz Snow Peas
  • 1 Cup Bean Sprouts
  • 3 Green Onions, roughly sliced (optional garnish)
