Fresh vs Frozen Berries

When you make this blueberry croissant bake you can use fresh or frozen. The frozen berries will bleed a bit of the juice and discolor. But the flavor is delicious either way.

If you use frozen just mix them in frozen and they will thaw.

Tips & Tricks

  • Use Day-Old Croissants: Slightly stale croissants soak up the custard better, creating a richer texture.
  • Cream Cheese Hack: Soften the cream cheese fully before mixing to avoid lumps in your custard.
  • Refrigerate Overnight: Letting the dish rest overnight helps the custard fully absorb into the croissants.
  • Fresh vs. Frozen Berries: Fresh blueberries work best, but frozen can be used—just thaw and drain them first.
  • Add a Crunchy Topping: Sprinkle with a little granulated sugar or slivered almonds before baking for added texture.
