How to Make Unicorn Jello Shots

Step 1: The first thing I started on was the Unicorn Ears. You will use fondant to get the look you are wanting. You can purchase a really handy fondant mold kit to help you make it easier.

Step 2: Now comes working on the Layers of Jello. I started by stirring the pink Jello with boiling water and mixing until the crystals dissolve. Once that happens stir in cold water and your bubblegum vodka.

Stir and pour into 3 separate bowls. Add coloring as directed below to get that ombre color you want.

You will then refrigerate your start of shots once you pour into the containers.

Step 3: Now you will work on your white layer that is similar to the red. And you will pour the white on top of the red, and then repeat to get the layered look once the Jello layers set up slightly in between.

Step 4: Once the Jello shots are made up, you will then work on creating the unicorn. It takes a little bit to do but after a few you really get the hang of it.

Can I Swap Out Flavor Of Jello

Not wanting raspberry? That is okay, you can pick any red or even pink color Jello mix to use instead if you would prefer.

Strawberry, cherry, or even a watermelon could be tasty.

You might find that depending what flavor of Jello you use, you might end up wanting a plain vodka or another flavor that pairs well with the Jello you choose.

Storing Unicorn Jello Shots

Since these jello shots are pretty tall I recommend placing them in an airtight container that is pretty tall. You don’t want to mess up the unicorn on the top. I have found plastic containers for storing leftovers or even a large bowl with a lid is helpful when storing your unicorn jello cups.

Best Vodka For Jello Shots

I used bubblegum flavored vodka to add a fun twist of flavor. But any vodka will work. I do recommend you buy a decent brand as the flavor will stand out a bit in this jello recipe.

If you buy a pretty cheap brand of Vodka it might give these a bit of a funky taste. So buying at least a mid-grade range of vodka is what I personally recommend.

How Long Are Jello Shots Good For

Jello shots can last around a week. But if you plan to store some of these layered unicorn jello cups, leave off the whipped cream and decorations .That will break down within no time and will leave a runny mess on top. This will make your shots need to be tossed out.

How Many Jello Shots Equal A Shot

You will find that around 3-5 of these Jello shots equals a shot. You can’t have too much alcohol in the recipe or it will not let the Jello portion set up properly.

So overall there isn’t a ton of alcohol in these, but after so many you should begin to feel the effects of your vodka.
