This Turkey cranberry grilled cheese is the perfect way to enjoy your Thanksgiving leftovers as it combines your favorite bread, turkey, cranberry sauce, and cheese for a mouthwatering sandwich that is ready in minutes.

I love grilled cheese sandwiches! So when I can combine the grilled cheese flavor with Thanksgiving leftovers I am one happy girl! This turkey cranberry grilled cheese is bursting with flavor! You will absolutely love the mustard combined with the turkey and cranberry with the buttery toasted bread! This will soon become your new favorite way to eat leftover turkey! Of course, if you are finding this recipe throughout the year you can use deli turkey meat as well for the same great flavor.

How to Make Turkey Cranberry Grilled Cheese

  • Over medium heat, heat a large skillet.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the sandwiches by spreading one slice of each sandwich with dijon mustard.

  • Top the mustard with two slices of provolone cheese and about 4 ounces of turkey.
  • Spoon about 1 tablespoon cranberry sauce over the turkey and top with another slice of provolone and a final slice of bread.

  • Spread one side of each sandwich with a generous helping of butter.

  • Place the sandwiches with the butter side down onto the skillet. Carefully top the sandwich with butter. Cook until golden brown on the first side, about 2 minutes, and flip to brown the other side. 
  • Tent the sandwiches with aluminum foil or cover with a metal bowl so the sandwiches will warm all the way through.
  • When both sides are browned, remove the sandwiches from the skillet and serve warm.

Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • Use homemade cranberry sauce or canned cranberry sauce, whichever you prefer. 
  • If you are not a fan of whole cranberry sauce you can use the smoothed canned cranberry as well. 
  • Try this delicious sandwich cooked in the Air Fryer! 
  • To enjoy this sandwich throughout the year, freeze individual servings of cranberry sauce in the freezer to pull out and enjoy!

Storage

This sandwich is best enjoyed right away. If you do have leftovers you can wrap them and place them in the fridge for a day or two, but you can expect the bread to become soggy. 

What if I don’t have leftover turkey?

If you don’t have any leftover turkey, this recipe still works so well with turkey from the deli or even chicken!

What kind of cheese can I use in a Turkey Cranberry Sandwich?

When making this turkey grilled cheese you can use provoke cheese, gouda, Colby Jack, Monterey Jack, and cheddar. These will complement the turkey and cranberry flavor.

Ingredients

  • 8 pieces thick-sliced bread
  • 2 tablespoons dijon mustard
  • 12 slices provolone cheese
  • 12 to 16 ounces sliced turkey
  • ⅓ cup whole cranberry sauce
  • 6 tablespoons butter, room temperature

Instructions
