Ingredients
2 pounds lean ground beef
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup plain breadcrumbs
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 1/2 teaspoons ground allspice, optional (I did not use it.)
1 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and black pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup beef broth
1/4 cup sour cream

How to make Swedish meatballs
Step 1: Combine ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, breadcrumbs, eggs, allspice (if using,) onion powder, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl. Mix to combine.

Step 2: Take a 1 Tablespoon scoop of your meat mixture and form it into a ball. Using a 1 Tablespoon cookie scoop works great for this to ensure your meatballs are all the same size.

Step 3: Roll your meat mixture into a ball with your hands.
Step 4: Add 1 Tablespoon of olive oil to a skillet over medium-high heat.
Step 5: Once your pan is hot add your meatballs allowing them to brown on all sides. You do not need to cook your meatballs all the way through because they will cook in the slow cooker.

Step 6: Once browned add meatballs to your slow cooker.
Step 7: In your skillet add butter and let it melt. Whisk in flour and create a rue. Whisk for about 2 minutes.

Step 8: Add beef broth and continue to which until the sauce thickens.
Step 9: Remove from heat. Stir in sour cream until it is well blended.
Step 10: Pour over the meatballs in the slow cooker.

Step 11: Cook on low for 4 hours or 2 hours on high.

Step 12: Gently stir the meatballs in the gravy. Sprinkle with parsley if desired and serve over egg noodles or mashed potatoes.
