Can I Use Neufchâtel in Replace of Cream Cheese
Yes you sure can. These two can be interchangeable in a recipe. Neufchâtel is made with 23% milk fat and regular cream cheese is 33% milk fat. So, you get a bit lighter of a dip.
How to Make
Step 1: start by mixing your cream cheese and sour cream together. Add in taco seasoning and continue to mix until combined.
Step 2: Pour mixture into a pan or serving bowl and spread it out.
Step 3: Top with all your favorite toppings and you are ready to serve.
I like to refrigerate the dip for a bit to help the taco cheese base to blend the flavors a bit. But you can serve right away if you don’t want to wait.
Topping Ideas
- Corn
- Lettuce
- Black beans
- Black olives
- Diced tomatoes
- Cilantro
- Rotel
- Jalapenos
- Guacamole
- Etc
The toppings are endless. All all your favorite taco toppings to this dip.
Can I Add Meat
You very well could add meat. If you do so I would do ground beef and season with part of the taco seasoning.
Then mix other part of seasoning with cream cheese base. Let beef cool down and then do cream cheese, meat, toppings.
If your meat is hot it will melt the cream cheese base and toppings will go bad faster.
Can I Double Recipe
You can double the recipe! Just use a larger pan and you will be all set.
Also, if you want to make it ahead of time you sure can, if you want to do a day ahead I recommend leaving off toppings as it can get soggy.
Right before serving, pile on toppings and serve.
How to Eat Dip
- Tortilla chips
- Corn chips
- Spread on tortillas as a roll up
- Use as a nacho topping
- Pretzels, baguettes, etc
- Sliced small French bread pieces
- Crisp veggies like celery, carrots, etc
You can honestly reach for whatever sounds good. I tend to pair with chips or veggies.
I have used the dip once to spread on a tortilla and it made a tasty lunch for me.
Is Taco Dip The Same As 7 Layer Dip
While it is similar it is not the same. 7 layer dip has, you guessed it, 7 layers. This taco dip does have layers of toppings, it is different,
But the concept is the same and just as delicious.
So don’t wait and try this easy taco dip today! It is one of my favorites that we continually make!
